Areas won a five-year contract to operate concessions at Los Cabos Airport’s international terminal

Areas has won a five-year contract to operate eight of ten new concessions at Los Cabos International Airport’s international terminal, which is currently being renovated.

The food & beverage company said its aim was to satisfy all traveller tastes in the new 1,800sq m area. Areas will invest US$4.7 million in the transformation of the culinary space.

Areas will open sandwich franchise Subway, steakhouse STK – representing the brand’s debut at a Mexican airport – and the Pacific Grill by Boa Steak House.

The company will also open a location for pizza and pasta restaurant chain Sbarro, in a co-branded concession with snacks, US food, and domestic and international beers specialist Corona Sport Bar.

Other openings will include tequila bar José Cuervo and hamburger restaurant Carl’s Junior. The outlets will open at various points from July onwards, with the last to be unveiled by February 2021.

“We’re extremely happy that Areas’ presence in Latin America is growing increasingly stronger,” said Areas Latam CEO Eduardo Uribe. “We’re been operating in the Los Cabos International Airport for more than 10 years, strengthening our knowledge to respond to the demands of international contracting authorities, submitting innovative, quality gastronomic tenders focused on service for users. This contract strengthens our leading role in the international restaurant tender market.”
