Ecocide in Cabo San Lucas Reported!

City Council member Tabita Rodriguez is calling on the Federal Environmental Prosecutor's Office (PROFEPA) to thoroughly investigate the destruction of a turtle nesting site in the port of Cabo San Lucas, across from the Waldorf Astoria hotel and suites.

Heavy machinery is seen at the site, modifying the coastal zone where no permit is on display. For that reason, a report is also given to the Attorney General's Office (FGR).

According to witnesses, for several days heavy machinery was introduced in the place to remove hundreds of tons of sand to make landfills.

A line of stones was added to this beach, taking advantage of the fact that there is no surveillance due to the coronavirus epidemic.

It is an adjacent shore to Playa Grande Hotel in the southern part of Cabo San Lucas.

Tabita Rodriguez, said that at the moment they do not have any municipal permission for these maneuvers.

A reaction from the turtle nest surveillance groups is expected soon to make a report of damages in this ecocide where at the moment there is no person responsible.
