Fire wiped out 24 acres of palm trees at Mulege

At dawn today, the fire that began on Sunday afternoon in the palm tree area of the town of Mulege was completely out and ended with an extension of 24 acres according to the Civil Protection assessment.

The flames managed to be isolated around 3 o'clock in the morning and the volunteer and fire brigades were left in place to put out the fire completely and prevent it from starting again at any time.

They were grateful for the support of the Christian firemen of San Ignacio as well as local agricultural companies who helped with water cisterns to put out the flames.

Carlos Godinez from Civil Protection said that it is not yet known what caused this great fire. He asked the residents of Mulege to take great care of their natural heritage and to avoid this type of conflagration in the future.
