Oarfish caught in La Paz stokes earthquake fears

This morning video and photographs circulated of a oarfish that was found at the fish conservation farm in the port Pichilingue near La Paz.

Prestigious oceanologist Fernando Cavalin, assisted by experienced diver Tito Taylor, is holding this giant fish from the depths that is approximately 13 feet long.

The port of pichilingue is located 5.5 miles from La Paz.

Dozens of comments on Facebook link the appearance of this fish with earthquakes, as has happened in several cities around the world.

The last time a oarfish appeared in Mexico was on the beaches of Cozumel in the state of Quintana Roo on June 11. By the 23rd, a strong earthquake of magnitude 7.7 struck the Caribbean Sea, which fortunately did not generate any damage in the area.
