Suspect in a Tucson homicide in November arrested in Mexico

A suspect in a Tucson homicide case last year is in custody after being arrested in Mexico, authorities said.

Pima County Sheriff’s officials said 27-year-old Brian Altland has been booked into the Pima County jail on suspicion of first-degree murder.

On July 25, 2020, a suspect was arrested in Caborca, Sonora Mexico through a coordinated effort between the U.S. Marshal’s Service District of Arizona-Tucson Mexico Investigative Liaison and Mexican authorities.

Deputies were summoned Nov. 18 around 4:30 a.m. to the 14000 block of North Bowman Road in the Catalina area and found the victim lifeless with "obvious signs of trauma", the sheriff said in a news release.

The news release did not specify how Duncan was killed.

The victim was subsequently identified as 46-year-old Eric Duncan McCormick.

A possible motive for the killing hasn’t been released and it was unclear Tuesday if Altland has a lawyer who can speak on his behalf.
