Public health officials Thursday reported nine additional deaths caused by coronavirus in Los Angeles County, bringing the county's total number of deaths up to 21.
"If there are 1,000 people who are positive and each one of those people infects 2 other people. If we don't curtail that spread, within a few weeks, there could be over a million people that could be infected in LA County," LA Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer said.
More specifically, Ferrer notes that 9,400 people have been tested in Los Angeles, thousands in recent days.
