La Paz Malecon Closes to Prevent Resurgence of Pandemic

Today the state health council announced that a fine of 350 thousand pesos (16,615 Dlls) was applied to the Costa Baja hotel, where a wedding was held last Friday night without observing healthy distance protocols or sanitary measures among the 200 guests.

Governor Carlos Mendoza Davis said that there will be no tolerance for businesses that are caught with a crowd of clients. All will be closed and fined.

What is sought to avoid is a resurgence of coronavirus cases in the main cities of Baja California Sur.

In Los Cabos, the Civil Protection office announced that the fines will be 300 thousand pesos (14,230 USD) for businesses that do not apply health protocols.

It was announced that the Malecon of La Paz will be closed from Thursday to Sunday, from 6:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the next day, due to the increase in the number of people and the risk of multiplying the number of infections.

It will prevent Baja California Sur from going through a red light. Until November 1st it will remain in yellow and will be reevaluated.
