OLAF is expected to make landfall in Los Cabos tonight as a hurricane

The harbormaster's office has arranged precautionary measures due to the proximity of the influence of Tropical Storm OLAF, so as of 6:00 a.m. this Thursday morning the ports in this municipality will be closed to navigation.

The south of Los Cabos will be directly influenced by this meteorological phenomenon today, with light to moderate rains, thunderstorms and wind gusts, so it is important to secure your homes and avoid going out of your workplaces or outdoors unnecessarily.

The rains are prior to a possible impact of storm OLAF in Cabo San Lucas or San Jose del Cabo during Thursday night, according to the forecast of meteorologist Jorge Garza, who also anticipates that the rains may last until tomorrow at 11 o'clock, with less impact in the municipality of La Paz.

Total rainfall in this outlook for Los Cabos will be 120mm to 195mm, up to 225mm in the area of Miraflores, Caduaño and Santiago (caution to water runoff in Vados and Arroyos).

The Secretary of State Civil Protection, in charge of Alfredo Godinez Leon informed this Thursday morning that a recent projection indicates that the core of Olaf will make landfall between 23:00/24:00 hrs. today Thursday in the area of San Jose del Cabo with the rank of hurricane cat.1. The effects of Olaf may occur from 2 to 3 hrs. before impact. It is recommended to be very attentive to official information.

Shelters have been opened in the main cities for families who need help because they live in high risk areas.
